View Online IMMEDIATE RELEASE Department of War Announces Second Round of Appointments to the Newly Established Science, Technology and Innovation Board May 27, 2026 Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has approved a second round of appointments to the Science, Technology and Innovation Board (STIB), rapidly staffing the newly unified advisory body with top-tier talent. This latest round brings the board to a total of 33 appointments. The STIB was established through a merger of the Department of War's Defense Innovation Board and the Defense Science Board to create one voice for innovation, replacing competing recommendations with fast, coherent guidance for the Joint Force. Selected for their disruptive mindset and commitment to the American warfighter, these new members will provide the expertise and urgency needed to deliver tangible answers to the Department. These highly qualified individuals bring a critical mix of deep scientific rigor and private‑sector agility that is essential for bypassing bureaucratic blockers. As its first order of business, the board will immediately tackle a series of congressionally mandated activities. These initial assignments will address critical strategic equities for Kwajalein Atoll and the Reagan Test Site, ensuring the Department maintains a decisive edge in advanced testing and capability development. Additionally, the STIB will focus on accelerating digital solutions, specifically optimizing and securing software delivery processes across the Department.
