Army's 3rd Infantry Division Seizes the Marne Soldiers assigned to the Army's 3rd Infantry Division challenged themselves during Seize the Marne, a modern warfare demonstration featuring obstacles such as crawling through mud, navigating trenches and fording a river, as part of the annual Salute to Summer celebration at Fort Stewart, Ga. The division is known as the "Rock of the Marne" for its valiant stand against a large German force during World War I along the Marne River in France, preventing the enemy from advancing into Paris.
