Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks Travels to Baltimore for a Ship Naming Ceremony

Attributable to Pentagon Spokesman Eric Pahon:

Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks will travel to Baltimore, Maryland, for the naming ceremony of SSN 812, a future Virginia-class nuclear powered attack submarine, on Friday, Sep. 20.

The Deputy Secretary will serve as the ship's sponsor. In her role as sponsor, she will represent a lifelong relationship with the ship and crew. 

While there, the Deputy Secretary will deliver remarks alongside local and state civic leaders, as well as military leadership, in a formal ceremony aboard the USS Constellation.

The Deputy Secretary will return to Washington, D.C. later that same day.
