Pat Ryder provided the following readout: Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke with Ukrainian Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov today regarding Ukraine's ongoing operations and priority capability needs. Secretary Austin congratulated the Ukrainian people as they prepare to celebrate Independence Day on August 24 and reaffirmed the enduring support of the United States to help Ukraine fight Russian aggression. Secretary Austin also provided an update on U.S. security assistance, including the $125 million Presidential Drawdown Authority package announced by President Biden today.  The two leaders pledged to remain in close contact.
