View Online IMMEDIATE RELEASE Readout of Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Ms. Amanda Dory Meeting With the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Eisa Al Mazrouei Aug. 22, 2024 Pentagon spokesperson Lt. Col. Garron Garn, USMC, provided the following readout: Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Amanda Dory hosted UAE Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Eisa Al Mazrouei today at the Pentagon. Ms. Dory reaffirmed the United States' commitment to a strong bilateral defense partnership with the UAE based on shared interests and priorities. The two sides discussed ongoing efforts to deescalate regional hostilities, Houthi threats to the free flow of commerce in the Red Sea, and the destabilizing actions of Iran and its regional proxies. Ms. Dory recognized the UAE as a key partner in addressing regional challenges and highlighted opportunities to deepen bilateral security cooperation. The two sides agreed to increase joint training and exercises to address shared threats and improve interoperability.
